Week 5: Reading - New English Teaching



New English Teaching

21st century is the age of globalization is one or various foreign languages and English language come first. It is the rapid development of science and technology, the emerging and developing of multimedia technology and its application to teaching.
First of all, analysis on necessity of application of multimedia technology to English teaching is a way that teacher need to know for improve students to higher participation and interesting of students. There are many reasons such as cultivate students’ interest in study, promote students’ communication capacity between student - student and student - teacher, widen students’ knowledge to gain an insightful understanding to western culture and improve teaching effect.
Then, analysis on problems arising from application of multimedia technology to English teaching is issue that teacher should pay attention about results that may happens after use the technology. There are includes major means replaced by the assisting one, loss of speaking communication. English class turns to courseware show and students are made viewers rather than the participants of class activities, the shrinking of students’ thinking potential. Teacher raise impromptu and real - time questions and guide students to think and abstract thinking replace by imagination thinking.
After that, it is Suggestions and strategies to the existing problems for teacher to use the way. For example, the beauty of courseware is not the sole pursuit. The teacher s were acting as the projectionist; clicking the screen, the computer screen cannot substitute the blackboard, PowerPoint cannot take the place of student’s thinking and practices, traditional teaching instruments and devices should not be overlooked and multimedia technology should not be overused.
To sum up, there are technology give easiness and speed for human in their lifestyle; it also has the bad sides that many people disregard. Thus, teacher should use the technology carefully. They have to take balance in classroom.

In my idea, analysis on necessity of application of multimedia technology to English teaching is a way that teacher need to know for improve students to higher participation and interesting of students. It helps to cultivate and develop students’ ability increasing.
