Week 20: Learning Log - The last day of the class


The last day of the class

It is last day for teaching test about ASEAN and this subject. Today there were 11 people. I will show you about each presentation.
The first person taught speaking skill. She thought about exchange rate. She let students to speak more time including group and pair work and she used language fluency. The second person taught reading skill. She prepared ASEAN song to start the lesson. She thought reading strategies. The third person taught writing skill. She let students to watch ASEAN video before going to start the lesson. The fourth person taught listening skill. She thought about booking a flight ticket. The fifth person taught speaking skill. She thought about asking and bargaining prices. She let students to know the currency and play game. The sixth person was me. I taught listening skill. Activities that I used were video playing, answer question from listening and write own converstation. The seventh person taught writing skill. He thought how to write a fight ticket. He showed the website that it’s useful for real situation. The eighth person taught speaking skill. She taught about exchange rate in Malaysia. She prepared more activities for students. The ninth person taught reading skill. She thought about meaning of ASEAN countries flag. She had more activities. The tenth person taught writing skill. She thought writing a postcard in Malaysia. She had a real material. The last person taught speaking skill. He thought about country and nationality. He let students to have more time to practice speaking skill.
From presentation in these two days, everyone was good better than the 1st lesson plan. Students have more times to prepare and practice. They also know weakness of own. Because there’re 3 vital topics that teacher have to do related lesson plan including language, process and learning in real situation.

Week 20: Learning Log - The first ASEAN lesson plan day


The first ASEAN lesson plan day


This class is the first day for teaching “ASEAN” lesson plan. Although, most people have lots of time to prepare each work; I know every students still depressed and excited about testing. There’re 13 people that presented their lesson plans.
The first person taught about listening skill. She opens video before. She teaches about Laos and show vocabulary of places. Her exercise is fills in the blanks by listening to the sound. She feels so excited to be the first person. The second person taught about the identity of Laos in speaking skill. They are six topics including food, musical instrument, currency, flowers and tourist attractions. The terminal objective was matching the question, answer cards and conversing of identity of Laos. The third person taught about food of Malaysia such as Ketupat. Her lesson plans was on reading skill. She used “True or False” for teaching. Her class was interesting because she could motivate students to pay attention by proper vocabularies in Malaysia. The forth person taught traveling places of Laos by playing a game before and she opened video about traveling places. She taught writing skill and related comparison. In her period, there’re problem about her video. The fifth is person taught about foods of Singapore and ordering food for example “Waiter: Excuse me. Would you like to order now? Customer: Yes. I’d like the Fish Head Curry. ” The vocabularies are Rojak, Yong Tau Foo, Fish Head Curry. The sixth person teaches about traveling places of Brunei such as Kampong Ayer. She teaches about reading skill by using news. I think that she should improve about speaking English and make understand about the lesson more but her lesson plan is interesting because she uses the news for bringing to the lesson. The seventh person she opens video before and teaches about traveling places of Singapore such as Singapore zoo, universal studios Singapore. She teaches writing skill for writing post cards. Her teaching is very interesting because she focuses the writing post cards and use authentic material. The eighth person used video in warm – up and taught about recommend of places in Malaysia. There’re many interesting place in there. The beautiful presentation could motivate students to learn. The ninth person taught about do and don’t of rules in Malaysia. This is the best pattern for teaching culture in ASEAN community. After finished her class, she provided student to give an example about differencing Thai and Malaysia cultures. The tenth person taught in currency of ASEAN such as Indonesia = Rupi, Malaysia = Ringgit, Philippine = Peso. The eleventh person, she uses a game in warm – up by matching the flag of ASEAN and the name of country. Her teaching is reading skill. The twelfth person, she teaches writing traveling places of Vietnam and her teaching is writing. Moreover, she uses adjective for teaching writing. The thirteenth, she teaches about currency of each country of ASEAN. She let students to listen exchange rate conversation.
In conclusion, there are three factors affected for efficient learning outcome such as performance, evaluation and condition. Teachers realize to apply content about it to another function such as teaching students to write a postcard. Teachers can enhance students to use English in several real life situations.

Week 19: Learning Log - The second day for teaching local lesson plan


The second day for teaching local lesson plan

For teaching lesson plans in local topic, there’re 6 people. Each person was exciting for the first time to testing. Many people have more times to improve lesson plans after listen to teacher’s comment. Let’s learn from my friends’ teaching processes.
The first person taught ordering food. She let student learn vocabularies and play game by stick on the board. After that, she explains structure for ordering food. The second person showed video and picture cards of direction. She taught the structure of giving of direction. There’re interesting in her video that actress ask people with the same structure for many times. The third person taught about food in Nakhon Si Thammarat by playing game and show cartoon video. The forth person taught occupation in Naratiwat and asking and answering of occupation. Next person Hathaiphet Pudpad, she taught traveling places and asking-answering of direction. She gave conversation video about direction. The last person taught about Satun province and descriptive adjective. He asked students to explain the environment around there.
To sum up, although; someone were exciting and forgot their teaching process; students were good prepare. Because they're practice many times. All of comments from teacher and friends help them to develop their abilities to be professional teacher. However, the good lesson plan should have learning process that appropriate in the main skill, using the content in real life, using authentic material and correcting terminal objective.

Week 19: Learning Log - The first local lesson plan


The first local lesson plan

This’s a first day for testing lesson plan 1 (local). There are many people that not yet taught and various topics including tourist attractions, foods, occupations, directions, and reservation hotel. Students also prepared a lot of different games. Then, I’d like to show you about teaching process of each person.
The first person taught tourist attractions in Phung Nga. She used video as warm up and her game was very interesting. The second person taught making recommendation. First she showed the video about tourist attractions in NST and she show word card, then she taught phrase for asking and giving about place to visit in Nakhon Si Thammarat. The third person taught about activities when you go somewhere. He improves about structure and excercise which they are too much. The fourth person taught about Direction. She had game, work group and pair work. The fifth person taught about occupations in Trang. She needs to improve her rubric because she doesn’t edit by her own idea. The sixth taught the food in Nakhon Si Thammarat. Her game is the jigsaw of food. She teaches the structure is “What food do you like?” The seventh person taught Songkhla province and asking-giving direction. She also taught ‘Future going to.’ Students can make their own sentences by using picture card. The eighth taught about type of hotel by giving brochure each hotel in Nakon. His game is rearranging the word which they are the type of room in the hotel. It’s a good idea that he used authentic materials. The last person taught about “either and neither” there’re several structure and more difficult for intermediate students.
Concluding, the noticeable that I’ve learned from other teaching is accuracy and fluency of teacher. Moreover, most students didn’t have assessment to check students while do activities and their own idea in Rubric criteria. Moreover, the main of teaching in CLT approach is use the function which students really could use out classroom. There’re many things that students have improve. It’ll be better for next testing.
